Meeting Reminder and Writers Bulletin
Haven’t done this in a while, post stuff about the writers group on my blog since we put up our own MySpace page. But thought I would post it here in case anyone “out there” in cyber space may be interested in showing up. So, here you go:
Hello everyone! It’s that time again! This Saturday, February 6 from 3 to 5 pm in the community room at the Fairfax Library will be our next writers meeting! We’d love to see you there. Remember to think about when this year you’d like to present a longish portion of your WIPs so we can start setting up a sign up sheet. Below is our Writers Bulletin for now:

February 4, 2010 Hello, Writerly Folks! Some brief items you may be interested in: 1. First, if you haven’t been keeping track, there was a huge kerfluffle this last weekend between Amazon and McMillan and Apple might end up being the winner because of Amazon’s antics. You can find some links on Angela Hoy’s Writers Weekly: http://writersweekly.com/the_latest_from_angelahoycom/005858_02032010.html But the most interesting article there is from Fast Company here: http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/kit-eaton/technomix/amazon-revealed-it-hates-you-and-it-hates-publishers?destination=node%2F1534929%3Fpartner%3Dhomepage_newsletter 2. Congratulations to Angela Mankiewicz who has poems out in Istanbul and the UK. You can find them here: one is at ISTANBUL LITERARY REVIEW here: http://www.ilrmagazine.net . The poetry section is on the right – scroll down to Angela’s name and click. The 2nd one is from the UK – POETRY MONTHLY INTERNATIONAL – for January on pages 26-27 – use this link: http://www.poetrymonthly.com and click onto “Latest Issue”. 3. Also, in case you’ve forgotten, if you want to be included in a kind of web presence directory or index for our members, send me a list of links of where to find you online. 4. Finally, is the speed of life getting to you? Adam Shames at Kreativity.net talks about allowing time in our lives to allow our creativity to grow and expand. He talks about it in this blog entry on his blog Innovation on my Mind: http://innovationonmymind.blogspot.com/2010/01/making-sense-of-our-urgency-making-art.html . In particular, he points out Olivia Sprinkel’s Creativist Manifesto: http://changethis.com/66.03.CreativistManifesto . |
