Writing & Editing  Services

  • Please note for all services below: Prices quoted are for orders that are expected within a NORMAL time frame - 7-10 days, 14 days for larger orders. Orders that are needed in less time will have a higher per hour rate. There will be an extra charge for emergency orders—if I am able to accept them and work them into my schedule.

  • Proofreading - $25/hour

    EVERYTHING needs to be checked before it goes somewhere: Company, organization, and family newsletters; business and marketing proposals; thesis proposals and dissertations; personal and academic essays; resumes and cover letters; Power Point Presentations, lesson plans, and speeches; websites and blog articles. Sometimes proofreading even means comparing figures to make sure those figures were correctly entered. I can help if you need anything proofed and edited for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and missed or wrong words.

  • Copy Editing - $30/hour

    Copy editing is a more extensive form of proofreading.  It means checking for awkward sentences, continuity, logic, and whether or not it all makes sense, occasionally revising sentences. Copy editing adds clarity while keeping the voice and intent of the writer.

  • Technical Document Cleanup and Editing - $30/hour

    Rewriting and/or reformatting technical documentation, checking for errors, moving from one type of document to another (PDF to Word or Excel for example).

  • Content Writing - .10-.15 word

    Articles on a variety of topics; book, magazine, and film summaries, critiques, and reviews; help with personal essays for school programs and job entry, or marketing copy for brochures and online content are some of the content I have written for clients in the past.

  • Resumes - $150 each

    Written from scratch, including an interview with you, information gathering on you and what industry you are in (or going into), and the necessary revisions and tweaks we'll make to get it perfect. I keep it on file for future revisions should you need to redirect it towards another industry or company.

  • Update/rewrite Resume - $25 - 30/hour

    You like your resume as it is, it just needs a little updating. Normally takes 1-3 hours.

  • Cover Letters - $25-50 each

    Includes researching the company you are applying to, getting more information from you as to how you want to represent yourself, and revisions until it's right.

  • Bios and Personal Profiles - $50

    More and more professionals are using bio sheets and personal profiles in their employment search packets and on their networking webpages. Consider having one professionally written for you.

  • Novel and Short Story Beta-Reading and Critique - $30-35/hour

    Sometimes you need more than proofreading or copy editing. You need someone to read your work and pay attention to the content as well. Does it flow? Does it make sense? Is it believable? Are there glaring holes that you can't see? This type of work generally takes longer than regular copy editing and proofreading and is not meant to "fix" a work so much as provide an objective reading and critique and possible suggestions for the customer. Proofreading, copy editing and some formatting is included if it is requested at the time of the order.

Included with all work is the understanding that revisions will be done until we get it right, within reason. 

Contracts, non-disclosure, and confidentiality agreements are acceptable within reason.
